You know the pattern - you want to do something, achieve something, move forward in your life and every time you think about it the little voice inside your head says “I can’t”.
You’re placing an obstacle in your way (sometimes called a self-limiting belief). It might be a personal issue - “I can’t get fit”. Perhaps it’s a creative matter - “I can’t sing.” Or maybe it’s to do with your business - “I can’t cold call.”
When coaching, and a client says she can’t do something, I’ll ask “what stops you?” Well, you can start to experience the power of coaching whenever you fall into that pattern by asking yourself “what’s stopping me?”
To stop yourself you must be putting something in your own way. I’m assured, for example, that everybody can sing - so what’s stopping those of us who say we’re tone deaf? Perhaps it’s years of being told at school “you’re just not musical”, after you didn’t take to the recorder naturally at the age of 5.
You may find that simply by reflecting on this question the answers become apparent. Or you may find that your NLP Life Coach is the best person to explore this issue with you.
There’s no need to be stuck and allow those dread words “I can’t” to hold you back. Answering this question could be the key to opening up your life and finding your purpose.
So go for it. What stops you?
