The importance of diagnosing discharges with the help of the partial discharge analysis

Electrical systems are often in danger of quick aging, especially the equipment that works with high voltages. They are threatened by deterioration of the insulation. For this not to happen, a partial discharge analysis is used to verify the status of the equipment. The gain is represented by higher productivity and fewer money losses. The partial discharge switchgear is therefore undeniably useful.

Working with a system means having responsibility; for this, one has to know the equipment and recognize when it has problems. This may take several minutes, hours or even days. Time is lost. Money is lost. Workers get frustrated and tend to do their work superficially. The equipment that can be diagnosed includes systems that require high voltages (up to 800 kV) or lower (down to 2,300 V) such as generators, transformers, motors, switchgears, cables. The partial discharge switchgear monitors the behavior of the insulation. It can check the degree of humidity and temperature, so users can keep an eye on the status of the system.

After a partial discharge analysis, the functionality of the system is better estimated and its performance can be improved. It also helps in keeping the system safe from any harmful discharge and along with it from any damage that could lower the quality of the work or from any supplementary time waste for repairing insulations. This, as said, can be done with the help of the partial discharge switchgear, keeping the system under observation and having the possibility to stop production in time to check on the system before it breaks down.

In conclusion, the partial discharge analysis can be safely and easily be done with the help of the partial discharge switchgear, which offers users more time to focus on production than on worrying about break downs.
