PAPER SHREDDERS

It’s easier to burn out a shredder by overdoing it. A shred capacity of at least 4-5 sheets is best unless you want to spend time providing for paper one piece at a time. In real world-use, most shredders do best at 1-2 sheets less than their stated specs.

THROAT:
The hole of a shredder needs to be large enough to shred a typical size of paper. A smaller throat size requires folding the paper but if your most shredding is of ATM receipts and credit cards it works fine.

MORE FEATURES:
Shredders come with various combinations of features. Shredder detects the presence of paper with automatic start/stop. Some shredders provide a light or buzzer to alert the paper jams or full basket. Reverse feed is useful for removing paper jams. An apparent basket or windows help you to see when to empty the basket.

INTEGRATED-UNITS:
The paper shredders with built in basket or plastic bags rate a little bit more than regular ones. These shredders come in various figures. Some units might include an extra opening for inserting paper that even doesn’t need shredding. The main drawback is that you are tied into using a definite size basket.

STAND-ALONE UNITS:
This type of paper shredder fits on most standard size wastebaskets. These are the often the least classy units are and can be purchased for under $60US for greater flexibility, look for a unit that fits both round and rectangular wastebaskets.

SUPPLIES:
Some manufacturer recommend using shredder bags. To keep a shredding operating a peak effectiveness the blades should be oiled regularly specially with formulated shredder oil. This oil lubricates with out leaving residue on the cutter.

Consumer should practice the following safety measures when using a paper shredder:

· Situate the paper shredders out of reach of children.
· Be safe when placing hand in the shredder opening.

· Also keep hair and hanging items, such as a necklaces away from the shredder.
